Back in 1967...the Jelly Bean Bandits released their one and only LP on the Mainstream Records Inc. label. Labelmates were Big Brother & the Holding Company (with Janis Joplin) and the Amboy Dukes (with Ted Nugent). Thirty years later, in 1997, Janis is long dead, Ted is till Ted and the Bandits LP is worth $150.

A long time between recordings and gigs...The Bandits find out, thanks to the internet, that they are better known in 1997 than they were in 1967. Websites, references and bootlegs attest to this fact. Jack is a pilot in Florida, Mike is a publisher in North Carolina and Joe and Fred work construction in New York. Of course, they decide to get back together and record some more. First result is Time and Again, released in 2001. The CD includes nine brand new tracks, three unreleased demo tracks from 1968 and a couple of live recordings from 1967. The Bandits re-unite to perform an annual gig in their hometown area of Newburgh, New York, with the proceeds to benefit the American Cancer Society.

More recordings and a surprise concept...Fans are now asking for a live Bandits recording and this results in the 2002 release of Mirror Music, a CD crammed to the last minute with live performances of the Bandits from 1967. Fans also want the studio recording that started it all, so the Bandits release a high-tech souped-up version of The Jelly Bean Bandits 1967 in 2003. Then came the concept of Bandit Planet.

It's all about the music...Like inviting friends over to your place for a jam session. Except that some of these friends live on the other side of the continent, while others live on the other side of the world. Their musical ideas are so diverse and their talents are so great that their visions are put back-to-back with the originals. In the end, it really is all about the music.
