Have you guys been played on Little Steven's Underground Garage radio show yet? If so, what episode? If not, why not? You boys were part of garage band history too. I'm tellin' ya listening to the Underground Garage reminds me of my first encounter with Mike Raab's Vinyl Collection, I was about eleven. But seriously, if you haven't made the show, something has to be done about it. Somebody who knows somebody, has to get you on.

I guess it’s time I made an entry into your guest book. Looks like I am the first one in 2005. How are you Mike, and the rest of the bandits? I can’t believe it is almost 35 years since my brother Tony and I have closed the “Trade Winds”. If I must say so myself, it was quite a club, and probably the likes of which will never again be seen in the Newburgh area again. So much has changed over the years in the nightclub and music industry that makes that so. I only wish today’s young generation had the opportunity to see and hear bands first hand, up close and personal like those in the 60’s did. Lots of great memories, and the “Bandits” certainly helped to make them. I want to let your readers and fans who frequented my brother Tony’s “Buccaneer” in Poughkeepsie know of his passing in February 2000. Keep up the good work Mike, and Joe and Freddie, “care for a game of darts”?

Wow! What a treat to find your website! I was one of your avid fans back in 1967 ..... a regular at the Buccaneer. I often think of your band and the outta sight music you guys made. Now if only I can find out what happened to J.F. Johnsen (sigh).

I met Billy Donald last night, at a party in Little Meadows, PA. We had a great conversation about days spent in different groups, from the 60's right up to today. Billy is a talented singer. I got to hear him last night, live with a group he was part of...The Big Edsel Band. My partner, Sal Crisafi, was keyboards and vocals with that group in 2 different era's. I haven't heard the Jelly Bean Bandits work just yet; but I hope I get the chance. Tell Billy I said hello.. Rick White

Conversation came up tonight and I mentioned your band.....a friend and I met you in the mid-60s at some polling thing in NYC where we were all pressing buttons as to what we liked/didn't like about something......met outside afterwards and talked. Bought your album........wore it out.........can't find it now....may have been a casualty of many moves or warped in storage......I remember the purple background and that is how I always was able to pick out the album, and I'd love to hear it again! Couldn't believe I found you when I googled! But very happy I did

G'day Mike & the Bandits, Looking forward to the release of your new album, it should be interesting hearing the numerous interpretations of your songs. We are recording at the moment and look like visiting America in 2004 to play IPO in Los Angeles. Mike McDowell of Blitz Magazine: http://hometown.aol.com/BlitzMcD/myhomepage/tunes.html has suggested we come across as the "Tol-Puddle Martyrs", my band from the 60's, as there is already a group called "The Secrets" who have been established in America since the 60's. With the "Misty Lane" release of the Martyrs songs: The Tol Puddle Martyrs / Misty Lane Release. http://crea.html.it/sito/NOWSOUND/1.htm there has been a revived interest in what the "Tol-Puddle Martyrs" did, so we could release our next album under the Tol-Puddle Martyrs. Keep well & keep those Jelly Bean Bandits albums coming. Your mate from the land of Oz, Peter.

Just to let anyone know who reads our guest book, the Bandits recently completed "If You Believe," a near-Christian rock / gospel single that features Pam and Shorty Watkins of the Radio Flyer Band on vocals in the extended closing chorus. "If You Believe" is being considered by the American Cancer Society for its national theme song. Meanwhile, the Bandits continue on work for their next CD "Second Wind" and the "Bandit Planet" compilation CD also is moving forward.Look for new "Old Gringos" Christmas cards this year.

Hi Joey! It's been a long time my old friend, remember me your fellow classmate Donna Woznick. Get the class of 65's yearbook out and you'll remember me and the bus rides home etc. It's great to see the Jellybean Bandits are still going strong. My sister-in-law (Linda Beesmer Reynolds) who is a classmate of one of the other band members from Cornwall (having a senior moment for I can't think of his name), gave me your info on my recent visit to see her. I'm thrilled and I would love to see you and support the band. Remember the fella I went with in high school, Wayne, he was a guitar player for the Travelers and played with others through the years. Well he's my husband and has been for 35 years coming up 22 Jul 02. It's great to see you still drumming strong. I will be going on line and ordering your CD and I would love to see you and the bandits too, after all these years. What is your schedule and where will you be appearing. I have worked here at West Point for 34 years and I am (are you ready for this) the Supervisory Supply Management Officer for the Cadet Services Division. Everything those 4000 Cadets get, if it isn't food or field equipment is handled by my staff. Everything, from their jock-strap, shoes, textbooks and BDU's to their lockers, computers, and yes that long grey line that is talior made for them is under my responsiblity. I work daily with the Dean and the Commandant etc. I have one son who is graduating from college with his masters next month and working toward his doctorate in Sports Psychology. He was lucky to do his internship here at West Point, working with the cadets for Mt. St. Marys College. Well enough, but this get's you up to date on what I have been doing for the past 35 years. Wow I can't believe that!!!!!! What have you been doing since graduation other than the bandits and do you have any children? Looking forward to hearing from you Joe. Donna.

Do you guys make Black Jelly Beans? Also what happen to Smokey? I would also like to suggest a few helpful pointers. Don't ever let a drunk control the soundboard ever again, he made the seafood start to smeel good. You might sell more records by taking your picture of teh back of the cd cover. And last, dont ever..... ever....... ever name a song "Lover Wrapped in Leather" you'll have Michael Jackson showing up at you concerts! bye for now...

P.S. Did Bruce Springstein help write track 9?

Didn't know much about the original group of 30 years ago.

I worked with Joe back in the "River Road" days, 1976 - 1978. By, the way, why doesn't Joe's hair turn grey like everyone else's?

Hope that your next CD gets picked up by a major label!

Dear Mike and Fellow Talented Musicians: What a wonderful day it was listneing to the Jellybean Bandits and meeting their family and friends on April 22. Thank you so much for providing the opportunity to gather with others to enjoy your music once again. Mike's cousin and Joe's wife and her friends made me feel most welcome (what lovely people they are). So sorry Barbara Raab could not be there to share in the celebrating your success. The "JELLYBEAN BANDITS" was one of the groups representing "my era", the mid to late 60's as DJ and music director for top 40 radio stations in the Northeast. I confess, I don't recall one of your releases as being a "wax to watch". However, that was a very fast pace & exciting time when we watched the charts, took calls and requests and records like yours shaped memories of wonderful times. Can anyone these days name the "top 10" of say, March 4th, 2001 without looking it up online or in Sunday paper? I'm excited for you JELLYBEAN BANDITS..I admire your energy. Can't wait to hear the new CD and when I do hopefully all those great days of "real HIT radio" will come flying back to those of us who were there making the hits! ... And the kids are gonna love it too!!

hey, bandits, great site you set up, and i am very proud to be appearing on it. just to say it to everyone reading this guestbook: the JBB•s album is one of the most charming and interesting albums of the 60s, and it features all original songs, that are powerful and highly creative. and i think that their tune "neon river" stands as an all-time classic right beside well-known hits such as "paint it black" or some songs by the doors ..... no, to me it•s much more exciting. and all the other pieces - simply check it out, if you•re into 60s rock music, and like to stroll off broadway, you will love it!!! good luck for the new album, guys, too bad i can•t make it for the launch party, but i•ll be with you, mentally :-)

Fred, I was pleasantly surprised to receive the Bandits post card. It's been a long time since the Trade Winds gigs. We sure had some great times back then. I haven't played the tenor sax in twenty years but still remember playing all those little gin mills. I used to see Mike Raab a few times thru the years, last time I saw him he was doing a gig at the Spruce Lodge and called me on stage to play the cow bell, so much for my musical talent. Ask Joe if he remembers playing for Ortone's New Windsor Town Band in the early days with Tommy Ciffarelli and myself (Ha Ha). It's great to hear from you guys and I wish you the best with your new CD. Try to let me know when and where you'll be in Newburgh in April I'd like to see you guys. Hey at last! You guys have been 1 of my favorite bands since I was a kid, I'm 36 now, and must say that your influence upon me, has been tremendous! I did a cover of "Poor Precious Dreams" years ago bouncing tracks on tape decks! Which I would like to present in its poor lo-fidelity to you now that you guys are so popular! On eBay, I did a search for JBB & saw an album go for $140! I'm not selling mine! Anyway I pursued my dream & went on to work w/ Joey Ramone of the famous Ramones via The Independents, a horror-ska ensemble that my friends here in SC put together! Now, I have been focusing on recording w/The Significant Others + you should get on mp3.com & have some links! I am really happyabout your new album,a dream come true for me as well! Steve Stone

Hi everyone, It's the ole "BIG BOSS MAN" here from the TRADE WINDS in New Windsor, New York.

Just had a wonderful mini reunion with Mike Raab over the weekend, and we reminisced at lenght about some great memories we had while working together at the Trade Winds back in the late 60's. I told Mike that the years have been good to him as he had gotten better looking in the years that passed. He now has that distinguished look about him, and anyone who has ever met him will be happy to know that he still retains his quick wit and exuberance.

It's great to hear that the guys are doing well and are getting together from time to time to give us some more great sounds. I hope to dig out some old photos to send to you fella's, as soon as I can get to the bottom of the pile.

Goodbye for now, and my best wishes to you all. Regards, Frank

Hi Cousin! Webpage looks great! Wish I had kept Mom's album in better shape but what did I know as a teen? Congrats on "being discovered" !

Hi Mike & the other Bandits, It's great you're getting some credit three decades later for the great music you made back in the '60s. The Jelly Bean Bandits album is a long-time fave of mine and it deserves much more recognition. I look forward to hearing your new stuff. Stay cool, Mike Stax

Yes, I was another one of the fans who went to the Bucaneer in '67' to check out the Jelly Bean Bandits. Everyone would start out at Don & Bill's Charter Oaks on Parker Ave. in Poughkeepsie and head out 44. Boy those days were great.

I am a fan of Mike Raab. He is a great man and a good friend. Haven't heard the "Trade Winds" in years. Never been there but always heard much about it way back when. Lots of luck to you all. You have my support.

Your site was forwarded to me by my dad, Frank Raab. I have heard about you guys since I was knee-high to a grasshopper (possibly for obvious reasons), but never heard the album. Now that you're recording a new one, I'm looking forward to getting my hands on it. Please let me know when it is released, I want it.

Sincerely, m

Hi Guys, The memories of you all practicing go way back. It was an exciting time. Any way, the best to you in your renewed adventure. This sounds crazy but did'nt you have a song something about creamy and crunchy peanutbutter? How do you get a copy of the first album? I will have to look for your new work. Fred drop me a line. Mary
